Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Jazmine, who is Philadelphia native was born and raised there. Her mother Pam was a backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, old, her dad landed an appointment as the curator for City's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. She graduated in 2005 of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was an instructor of vocal music. Sullivan began singing in contralto with the children's choir. She then sang a few years later in the adult choir. He was exposed to secular music but was initially limited "I was doing solos in the church, and I was asked to go on the gospel label at age was 11, but I was not prepared to sign that contract," she recalls. "Then when McDonald's was hosting a competition for students in big cities I was invited to sing 'Accept What God Does' on Showtime on the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year 13. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age 15. When she was 15 She was signed by Jive Records. She made an entire album there, but it was not made available for release. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. The singer maintained a relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded several tracks in her debut album like the viral single "Backstabbers" which was produced by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
